September 3, 2006 - FAREWELL, SCOUNDRELS!

It's with great sadness that Broadway bids farewell to the fabulous musical comedy, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as it bows out for a final performance on Sunday, September 3, 2006.  Lucie had to take leave from her performances as the wealthy socialite, Muriel Eubanks, while she recovers from knee surgery.  But, upon hearing of the impending closing of the show, Lucie has made an early return to the stage, recovering knee and all, to carry Muriel deservedly to the end of her run in Broadway's Imperial Theatre.  If, like me, you're unable to be there in person to see the final shows of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, let the following note from Lucie wonderfully transport you to first row...

August 15, 2006 - UPDATE ON LUCIE'S KNEE SURGERY

Lucie has suffered an unfortunate and rather painful injury to her knee, which will be resulting in her absence from DRS for the next few weeks. Please read her note below, and keep this in mind if you plan to make a trip to The Imperial to see Lucie in the near future.  Get well soon, Lucie!!  We wish you a wonderfully speedy recovery!!

A Birdland note from Lucie:

Thanks so much to all of my wonderful friends who sent me birthday wishes last week on this website. It was so heartwarming to hear from so many of you all over the world. What a thrill to know I have people cheering me on from Australia to Canada to the US to Poland!

It was probably the best birthday I ever had. Thanks to all of the great friends and fans I have acquired over the years who made reservations, we had a SOLD OUT, STANDING ROOM ONLY crowd for my Birthday Bash at Birdland. It was truly "out of this world."

A spontaneous roar of love and support greeted me upon my introduction and continued throughout the night from a savvy, exhilarated audience who had come from all parts of the country and were eager to be thoroughly entertained. And I think we did just that..... for nearly 2 hours.

My thanks to my musical director, Ron Abel, from Los Angeles and my wonderful drummer from Florida, Julie Jacobs, for flying in to play as their birthday gifts to me. To two of New York's best musicians, Gary Haas and Dave Mann for joining us on Bass and Reeds, respectively. And to my beautiful, handsome son, Simon Luckinbill, for being my entire percussion back up towards the end of the night on Congas. I will never forget watching you take stage in CUMBANCHERO. (I know Granpa Desi was smiling his biggest smile.) Thanks, also to David Galligan for volunteering to run my lights and to my dear friend and "managent," David Williams, for all of his leg work, upfront, making sure that this night was as special for us all as it turned out to be. And to my right arm, Elisabeth Edwards, at ArLuck Entertainment, for her endless patience and good spirits as she tried to deal with all the people who wanted seats. (Kieth would have been so proud, EE!)

I cannot possibly thank my special guests, Billy Stritch, Julie Budd, Valerie Pettiford, Phoebe Snow and Michele Lee enough for agreeing to come up onstage with me and share a tiny bit of their amazing gifts with the rest of us. And last, but certainly not least, thanks to my good friend, the uber talented, Jim Caruso, and Gianni Valenti at the world renowned Birdland Jazz Club for inviting me to perform in the first place. It was surely a night to remember!

July 17, 2006 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LUCIE!!!

Many thanks to all those who have sent in their birthday wishes to Lucie.  Please continue to send 'em in, all messages will be passed along to Lucie on July 19.  For everyone going to Lucie's Birthday Bash at Birdland tonight, have a blast!!

June 8, 2006 - LUCIE & LIZA AT BILLY STRITCH'S SHOW

stritchshow3.jpg (52095 bytes)Thanks to Mark, here are some photos from Billy Stritch's show on Sunday, June 4, with Lucie, Larry and Liza Minnelli (see further photos underneath description*).  About the fabulous show, Lucie says:

"We were there Sunday evening after my Sunday matinee performance June 4th.  Billy Stritch was in rare form. Never has he sung better. It was a beautifully produced event- a wonderful selection of Torme' tunes and his band rocked. Michael Feinstein was there- the master musical historian and he was revelling in Billy's choices. And it was a such a delightful surprise to see my pal, Liza, after way too long.  She and I huddled together and teared up a bit when Billy started to introduce "Breezin' Along With The Breeze". He explained to the audience that it was from the film "The Long Long Trailer", directed by Vincent Minnelli and starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and during the song we just automatically started quietly singing along with him, harmonizing in each others ears. Nice moment. Nice memory."

Lucie opened in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 to a sell-out audience and huge fanfare.  Lucie plays the role of Muriel Eubanks, replacing Joanna Gleason who finished up with the role in April.  Check out these excellent photo coverages of Lucie's opening night, thanks to Broadway.com and BroadwayWorld.com !!  Also, take a peek at photos 3, 12 & 13 on Gregory Jbara's (André from DRS) dressingroom camera for some gorgeous photos backstage!

May 6, 2006 - LUCIE IN DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS - NEW DATE

Due to the recent changes in performance dates for "Sonia Flew" in Florida, Lucie's opening night in Broadway's "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" has now been moved forward to May 23, 2006.  Update your calendars!!

April 14, 2006 - UPDATE ON "SONIA FLEW"

As you may have heard through recent reports, the future of Lucie's upcoming play, Sonia Flew was uncertain as of yesterday.  The historical Coconut Grove Playhouse, where the play was scheduled to run from April 18 - May 7, had to unexpectedly close its doors.  Read more about it through this article "Miami's Coconut Grove Playhouse Reopens, with Arnaz' Help" from BroadwayWorld.com.  Through Lucie's efforts in fundraising, Sonia Flew has been saved and will follow through with its two week run in the Coconut Grove Playhouse as originally scheduled.  However, the following week's run at the Parker Playhouse will not go ahead.  There is a possibility though that the play may continue this extra week instead in the CG Playhouse (more information as the date draws closer).  In the meantime though, please help support the beautiful Coconut Grove Playhouse in any way you can, help revive a historic part of South Florida and come and see Lucie Arnaz & Kate Luckinbill in the wonderful Sonia Flew!

March 21, 2006 - DIRTY ROTTEN LUCIE!

drslu.jpg (233235 bytes)LUCIE IS BACK ON BROADWAY!!  Lucie Arnaz is set to co-star in the smash hit Broadway musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels!!  On May 30, Lucie will be taking over the role of Muriel after Joanna Gleason, who currently plays the character, leaves the show.  As Lucie tells us, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is my favorite Broadway musical of last season! Joanna Gleason is leaving and I couldn't be happier to be filling her Ferragamos. Jonathan Pryce and Rachel York have just recently joined the company, Norbert is still knockin' 'em dead every night and the show is hotter than ever. I will take over the role around June 1st. But, please give me a week or so not to be tripping on the turntable. After taking over a role in My One And Only, I know what it feels like to leap onto these moving trains-thrilling and horribly scary!"  Congratulations, Lucie, we're looking forward to it!!  Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has been heralded "...Superior in every way. One of the liveliest, funniest best-performed musicals in years" by New York Post, and "...a pluperfect hit!" by The Wall Street JournalClick here to visit the official Dirty Rotten Scoundrels website and to learn more about the show.

LUCIE'S TRIBUTE TO KIETH DODGE

January 6, 2006 -
TRIBUTE TO KIETH DODGE

I am very sad to report that my longtime friend and our business manager, Kieth Dodge, 64, tragically died just before Christmas this past year. He had been struggling to cope with the emotional side effects of several recent strokes and regretfully took his own life in New York City on December 13, 2005.

It has been a very emotional and sad time for all of us here.  Kieth was not only our loyal and trusted business cohort for 25 years, but, my best friend for 31. Trustworthy, honest and loyal to a fault.  He coordinated our lives professionally, and, (for decades), helped us cope personally. He was like a brother to my husband, "Uncle Kieth" to our five children and he was my daughter, Kate's, godfather-an honor he took very seriously. This was a first-class man.  We are devastated by the loss and pray that he is at peace.

GULF COAST TRAGEDIES

September 3, 2005 - THE GULF COAST TRAGEDIES

In the midst of her performances and with a show on tonight in California, Lucie would like to send out the following message:

MY FRIENDS,

THE TERRIBLE TRAGEDIES THAT HAVE BEFALLEN THE WONDERFUL CITIES AND PEOPLE OF THE GULF COAST ARE UNTHINKABLE AND I URGE YOU TO DO ANYTHING IN YOUR POWER THAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP, EVEN IF ONLY IN A VERY SMALL WAY. IF YOU CAN, DONATE MONEY TO THE RED CROSS OR OPERATION USA OR ANY ONE OF MANY OTHER WORTHY ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE IN THE FIELD, LENDING A HAND.  IF, WHEN THE TIME COMES, YOU CAN SEND GOODS OR FOOD, PLEASE DO. AND PLEASE, IF IT'S ALL YOU DO, OFFER A PRAYER OR TWO, EACH DAY, TO SEE THAT WE ARE ALL INSPIRED TO FIND THE WAYS TO SOLVE ALL OF THE PROBLEMS AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE.

LET'S ALL BE A PART OF THE REBIRTH OF THIS BEAUTIFUL PART OF OUR COUNTRY AND HELP OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS TO GET BACK UP ON THEIR FEET AGAIN.

LET'S RESPOND THE WAY WE WOULD WANT OTHERS TO IF IT WERE YOU OR ME.

LOTS OF LOVE, LUCIEA

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LUCIE!

July 23, 2005 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LUCIE FOR JULY 17!

GROUP HUG FROM THE BIRTHDAY GIRL

To all of the amazing, supportive and really heartwarming friends and fans who took a moment out of their busy lives to stop and wish me a happy birthday on July 17th, I thank you from the depths of my heart.  I read each one of your messages and I was very moved and more than a little flattered.  Combined with the wonderful cards, calls, E-mails and voice mails that I received, this was one heck of a birthday!

I was actually traveling all that day- returning from celebrating with my mother's brother, my Uncle Fred Ball and his wife Zo in Cottonwood, Arizona where they turned 90 and 86, respectively.  We all share the same July 17th birthday and since Freddie was hitting the big 90, we turned this one into a major family reunion and the Ball Clan arrived from all over the country to help celebrate- including some of our extended family, like Frank Gorey and Wanda Clark! The day after I returned I started work on a new film called THE PACK here in NYC and I couldn't be happier.  I am home.  I am happy. I am healthy.  I am with the people I love and I am doing what I love to do.

Next up is a Luckinbill Family reunion with my husband, Larry's, relatives in Arkansas and then I will be heading to The Palmdale Playhouse in Palmdale, California for a Sept. 3rd (Labor Day weekend) concert engagement.  Home to see some of you there.

Again, thanks for remembering and I wish each and every one of you a healthy, safe and hope-filled year.  All my love, LucieA

Lucie performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in June, for a salute to Marvin Hamlisch.  Marvin Hamlisch, permanent conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony, is one of the entertainment industry's leading musical composers.  The hits of Hamlisch's repertoire include the big screen's "The Way We Were" and Broadway's "They're Playing Our Song."  This musical salute was a brilliant success and reunited Lucie with her "They're Playing Our Song" co-star, Robert Klein, where they performed some of the hit numbers from this top Broadway show.  Lucie also performed some selections from her own cabaret act.  The show ran from June 2-5 at the Pittsburgh Symphony Heinz Hall.  Click here for more information and to visit the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's website!

LUCIE IN "A PICASSO"

May 26, 2004  LUCIE'S "A PICASSO!"
Lucie Arnaz's recent performance in the new play, A Picasso in Miami, Florida at the Coconut Grove Playhouse from April 13 through May 8, 2004 was a huge success!  Written by Jeffrey Hatcher and directed by John Tillinger, A  Picasso was set in Paris during the height of the German Occupation.   Lucie Arnaz played the mysterious Miss Fischer, who had been hired by the Gestapo to interrogate the great Pablo Picasso regarding the authenticity of three paintings left behind by people fleeing the regime.  Sex and power collide in this suspense-filled drama which, while fictional, is nevertheless a graphic and revealing portrait of the most influential and controversial artist of the twentieth century.  A Picasso received the Barrymore Award for Excellence in Theatre for Outstanding New Play 2003 from the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia.  If you were able to attend a performance, please don't hesitate to share your experiences with LucieArnaz.com!  For more information about the Coconut Grove Playhouse, please visit their website at www.cgplayhouse.com .

LUCIE ON LAW & ORDER

LAW & ORDER!
Lucie's special guest appearance on "Law & Order", on NBC,  February 26, 2003 was welcomed with outstanding reviews and ratings!
Ratings:  With Law & Order (#1 for the evening: 15.1/23) in the mix there is no stopping NBC, which bested an above average (and second place) CBS by an overall 22 percent on this final night of the February sweep. Although the absence of ABC's The Bachelorette at 9 p.m. means that NBC's The West Wing (#2 in the time period: 11.6/17) will probably skew younger, Dan Rather interviewing Saddam Hussein on CBS's 60 Minutes II (#1: 12.4/18) had a seven percent overnight rating advantage.

A "thank you" note from Lucie Arnaz:

To everyone who wrote so many nice things about my recent Florida concerts,

Thank you so much for all of the supportive and heart-warming comments sent my way from people who saw or heard from people who had seen one of my shows down in South Florida recently.  After a year in London in The Witches of Eastwick, it was delirious fun to be back on stage, live, as MYSELF again, singing the songs I love to sing and working with my wonderful arranger-musical director, Ron Abel.  But, it really makes it even more memorable when you can get such positive feedback from some of the people in your audiences.  Thank you everyone and please, keep coming back!

Love you, Lucie Arnaz
