Local theater veterans launch web-based drama series Backstage
Ziegler, who has homes in Chicago and Douglas, has performed in New York and Los Angeles. He worked for a Los Angeles company that produced the opening credits for television shows and directed a 50th anniversary stage version of I Love Lucy. “I want to create my own little Desilu Studio in West Michigan,” he said. At Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center just up the block from Lincoln Center, they held a Memorial for the late Elaine Kaufman, the legendary proprietress of the boite/bar-restaurant/gin mill (to some) Elaine’s who departed from us earlier this year. FUSION Theatre Co. wins national award
FUSION Theatre Company was one of just 10 theater companies around the country to land an award from the American Theater Wing, and the only one in New Mexico.“From Philly and New York to Fayetteville, Albuquerque and Watts, Calif., theaters were selected for their uniqueness, courage, creativity and inspiring programs developing new works, outreach and education,” said Lucie Arnaz, chair of the grants committee, in a news release. At the event, Lucie Arnaz, Klea Blackhurst, Brian d'Arcy James, Kevin Earley, Emma Hunton, Capathia Jenkins, Melissa Manchester and Karen Ziemba performed songs from the Hamlisch songbook.
